FOR SALE: Maserati 3500 GT very early block 1959, 3500 cc, not complete but very rare, good condition, engine number AM101-416

Specifications:

Very nice early 3500 GT block, the internal engine number is 196 so this is the 196-th 3500 GT engine Maserati has built. Good condition, no corrosion visible.

Complete with its original main bearing caps (numbered 196, for use with 76mm main bearings) and nice liners (original size 86mm).

The engine is of the very first type 3500 and was only about 300 times built.
It uses an outside high pressure oil pump with an oil filter connected over hoses and has a completely different timing chain tensioner than the somewhat later engines.

The engine is not complete, but can be sold with following optional parts which are specific for these early engines only:
- Crankshaft gears, including the different one for the early high pressure oil pump
- Early front pulley (no picture)
- Early timing chain tensioner, mounted on the side (later engines had a completely different type mounted up front)
- Oil suction tube (shorter than in later engines due to the different high pressure oil pump)
- Mounting bracket for acceleration shaft (later engines had this casted in the block directly)
- Oil tube 1 for connecting the external oil filter (one side broken)
- Oil tube 2 for connecting the external oil filter (good condition)

The block is missing the following specific early parts (I don't have these):
- Oil pan with gear for the drive of the oil pump
- External high pressure oil pump
- External oil filter

The other missing parts are identical with later engines, e.g. con rods, cylinder head, etc.
